EDWIN ERIK SANDVIG

Ed passed on January 24, 2018 from Alzheimer's; called home by a loving Lord he served his entire life.
Born in Seattle on April 19, 1925, Ed was raised in Ballard. He was baptized, confirmed, married, and ordained at Ballard First Lutheran Church. He graduated from Ballard High in 1943.
Ed was preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy (Rasmussen), siblings Jerome (Seattle), Inger (Wangensteen, Seattle), Marie (Sandvig, Seattle) and John (Tampa, FL)

Ed passed on January 24, 2018 from Alzheimer's; called home by a loving Lord he served his entire life.
Born in Seattle on April 19, 1925, Ed was raised in Ballard. He was baptized, confirmed, married, and ordained at Ballard First Lutheran Church. He graduated from Ballard High in 1943.
Ed was preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy (Rasmussen), siblings Jerome (Seattle), Inger (Wangensteen, Seattle), Marie (Sandvig, Seattle) and John (Tampa, FL)
Ed is survived by his second wife Daphne (Owen, Gresham, OR), children Stephen (St. Croix, VI), Peter (Kathryn, Woodinville, WA), Timothy (Sharon, Temuco, Chile), Heidi (McNelly, Terry, Newberg, OR), Kari (Nelson, Todd, Tigard, OR), 12 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
Ed graduated from Pacific Lutheran College in 1948, married Dorothy in the summer of 1948. He graduated from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN in 1951. Ed served as parish pastor at Lutheran Churches in Arlington, WA, Woodburn, OR, Seatac, WA and Newberg, OR. Ed was a proud veteran, briefly served as a corpsman stateside at the end of WWII. He joined the naval reserves as a chaplain and was an active reserve chaplain for six years, taking assignments in San Diego, CA, Oak Harbor, WA, and Long Beach, CA.
Ed and Dorothy were called to a final mission with the establishment of Luke-Dorf, a halfway facility in Tigard, OR for emotionally and mentally disturbed adults. Luke-Dorf continues to grow and serve the
MED community in NW Oregon.
A private interment ceremony will be hold at Willamette Memorial Cemetery. A Memorial service will be held Thursday, February 1 at 2:30 pm at Faithful Savior Ministries (Lutheran Church), 11100 NE Skidmore St., Portland.
